the job of a information architect is to organize functionality and content into a structure that people are able to navigate intuitively doesn't happen by chance. Organizations must recognize the importance of information architecture or else they run the risk of creating great content and functionality that no one can ever find (http://www.steptwo.com.au/papers/kmc_whatisinfoarch/).

Responsibilities.
  • teamwork

  • web
(info from google.com pdf file)

the basic job of a information architect is to design a site or page using information brought to them by there teammates ( graphic designer, and content manager). it is the information architects job to make sure that there site is easy to navigate from page-to-page, with no problems like incomplete links or links that don't take you to the page that. He is not the one that designs the graphics or to find make all the information, his sole job is to bring those together to be easy access, and works.
creating a site that is easy to navigate is also another important skill for a information architect a site should have different pages and links nature they will have different kinds of information that should be relate to the site if some one needs to access that information it should be easy a self explanatory.
knowing if the site make sense is important. it is the information architect job to place all the information in the right order, if your doing a site on a school it would make sense to have a pic of kids on the front page instead of like food or something of that nature, if you ended up doing a page on their cafe then that would make sense.
